The owner of this 2005 Jetta GLI 1.8t is a long time customer and friend. He first came into the shop back in 2008 to get his timing belt replaced, and began doing performance mods shortly thereafter. He started off with a Unitronic software flash and a few small bolt-ons. Most customers, once they get a taste of the power the 1.8t can make, make small modifications here and there, eventually maxing out the K03 turbo before going bigger. Not this guy. Nine months after getting the Unitronic software, he was already planning out his big turbo build, and dropped the car off a couple months later.

Even now, with an impressive list of performance mods, he always seems to be planning his next move, with the ultimate goal being “a fully functional car that [is] domestic enough to drive on a daily basis but stout enough to dominate at the track.”

The latest modification was the addition of Integrated Engineering’s Street/Strip cams, and the owner “feel[s that] these cams will be a great match for the turbo [giving] nearly instant boost response down low, with these cams the top end to keep it alive and pulling.”
